Wow. Very good shots, especially given what looks like it could be a frustrating lighting situation.

Thanks -they hadnt'd finalised the lighting for all the scenes and I hadn't seen the production before, so I was running around like a lunatic trying to keep up with the action.
I spot metered and underexposed 1.5 to 2 stops to make sure the faces weren't blown.
I love this lens!

I like #1, although it's cropped a bit close on the left. Also quite a bit of noise / artefacts, by the compression for web.
#2 is nice as well, but I don't like the background and skin tones.

Excuse me?
Where did you meter then? Not at the faces, or the images would be severely underexposed ;)
Also: Take a look at your PS color settings: You have your displays profile (ColorLCD) embedded in the images, which is not good. Use sRGB.
Now there's quite a difference between Safri (color managed) and Firefox 2 (not color managed)

Nice to see this, we did We Will Rock You as our school show last year (first one's to do it! :D ) I helped with the set and costumes, interesting to see how you've done the characters differently.

Metered on the bodies as they were centre frame.
Sorry abour profile - shall use sRGB next time.

Looks great fun, and great atmospheric shots.
I'd maybe have underexposed a bit less; I normally find that a single stop of underexposure works for me. I sometimes wonder whether spot metering would help, but I fear there would be so much monkeying around with exposure lock that the moment would be gone.

I used AV I think (1600Iso) - as you say, there is no time to use exposure lock. Ideally, I would have liked to use manual - but the production was fairly fast moving, and the lighting was too.
I tried evaluative metering, but the background was black most of the time and that really threw the exposure off even more.
So for me, I found that spot worked fine.
Glad you like them.

^^^^^ Ditto. Given the lighting, nice job. I hate the typical theatrical lighting that you are often stuck with, and pushing to 1600 often gives me a lot of noise to deal with. Your shots came out pretty good.
You may want to adjust you WB though, which is a pretty common problem for these types of shots.
