View Full Version : "bumping" a "for sale" add?

Hi all, I am new to this site. Really came to get more exposure for things I'm selling, but have entered a few discussions, and posted a photo as a reply.

My question is what's allowable to move a "for sale" post back to the top. I found something that sez no reposting for 4 weeks, but what about a "bump" to move an add back to the first page, like on some other forums?
Thanx,
Ron

It won't rise to the top. There is a special switch on that forum so that new posts do not bring the thread to the top -- they are in order of when the thread was posted, always.

edit: well it is just a sorting filter -- at the bottom of the section you can re-arrange the threads so they are sorted by last post date, but I'm sure no one does.

Marketplace bumping and thread sorting explained here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=451308).

Also, rule 3.2 states message bumping is prohibited.

Thanx all for the replys. I guess I will leave things as they are - that's why I asked first. I will, however, reorder display mode each time I go to they buy or sell forums.
Thanx again,
Ron

I totally understand the desire to discourage people from constantly bumping their threads as no doubt some will abuse the concept, but 4 weeks seems to be overkill.

if you price it well, it will sell.

i'm surprised that a lot of sellers don't think that buyers use the search function.
