let me know how they are. only way to get better is to take advice

i just picked up my first dslr (30d) less than a month ago. so im an noob at this stuff

random shot. WB is off, but i like the yellowness. looks natural because the lighting was like that in the house.

Nice pics.

My advice is to wait for the moment on candids.
If you wait just a tad they'll be smiling and more animate (like on the couch shot, people are smiling except they are in the background).

yeah i tried, its just weird that when i walk near them or they see the camera pointed that way theyre like "oh no the camera guy is taking our pic!" then its not natural looking anymore

I had the same problem with an engagement party I shot a few weeks ago. It is just my taste but I would have done maybe a custom white balance or something to get rid of all that warm or "orange" light..they look a bit too warm to me but that is just my preference, I don't like too much warm images but I love the posed images of the couple....so clear and crisp...very good.

i see you like to add vignettes....and they are great...though you want to make sure that it doesnt cover key ppl or objects in the shot.....first image is the perfect example...otherwise your doing great!
