Nice dramatic shot, but that stump on the middle has got to go.

That stump draws the eye that then travels around the image and then...
The viewer then wonders why the photographer didn't clone it out.
Makes the image a little more memorable.

Do yourself a favor and never say anything or imply that there is something wrong with the picture. For one thing, an author is too close to his work to be objective. For another, your critics do not need any help - don't give them ideas.
Great picture - fantastic tonal range and 3 dimensionality (they do work for each other).
Congratulations!

Glad you chimed in Robert, the light/tonal range opinion is what I was after.
Am coming to learn that converting to B&W involves that mindset from the beginning of the PP process and not just clicking that "convert to grayscale" button. All thanks to you, mon ami.

What did you mean by that Robert?
Forget that request, sorry being a bit dense here, i got it now....

Foreground is a little too dark for me. In fact, the entire image looks a little under exposed. the details in the mountains is lost some. I like the composition, and the sky is dramatic.

What does the color version look like?

Vista excellent and i like the sky in the conversion.
Foreground is too dark for me and i would be tempted to layer it and bring it up a bit.
Have been digesting about your view on the stump.......... i think i would remove it.
Nice compositon and i think the colour version has potential too, have you PP a version of that?

I like the B/W but it seems too dark.

That's all right - I admit that it was all a bit arcane, but I wanted to point out that I had first looked at the image and the dead tree had not bothered me at all - hadn't even noticed it. So, it was doing his case no good to point it out to us.
In other words, I like what I like, so don't tell me what's wrong with it:lol:

The B&W version (original in the first post) is much better than the color one IMO. I can see why you went that direction.

You must remember that the color image is the RAW image, sans any PP.

Excellent clouds - love the B&W. But that dead tree has got to go somehow. It really attracts and then distracts the eye.
