john and daryl made a stop in early December as part of their holiday concerts, and packed the last half or so of the show w/ their well-known hits. shooting conditions were first three, but nothing up close (i brought my 1.4TC, unlike the Neil Young show).

Not to bad at all some are a little noisey but can live with that. Is that snow in the first image?

1, 2 and 6 are my favorites. I am also liking your use of different angles, from the floor and from a balcony. I wish I could do that more often, but when I do, I enjoy the freedom.

Nice job.

I don't see ANY appreciable noise in these on my calibrated monitor.
In #1, that's snow, not noise ;)
I really like the last one, and the 2 closeups of Hall (or is that Oates?) :)

Nice set. I don't see noise either.
I'd de-saturate the blues in the curtain in the last one. Looks "choppy" now.

How did you manage to shoot from so many levels with that song limit? I should really loan you my 400mm f/2.8L setup for these events although I think you are cropped a bit tight on several already. Anyway, nice set overall.

hey, thanks for the comments all. yeah, that 1st pic was foam snow they cranked out. i violated the '1st 3 songs' rule on that one, but oh well. ;)

dwight, i am quick, like bunny. since you couldn't shoot from up close to the stage, i spent some time ranging on the perimeter, then hoofed it up the side stairs to the balcony. and some of the real close-cropped ones were taken w/ the 1.4TC + 70-200L, as wide as i could go on the 30D. probably should have taken the TC off, but didn't.

Sorry narlus but I can't go for that solid set of photos but I hope you had your earplugs in!

richard, the funny thing was after they'd done their xmas stuff and started to play their hits, i kept saying to myself, 'hey, i know this one' after each song. it's not like i'm a fan, but pop radio in the 70s and 80s has affected me in ways i am just discovering.

Yes it does funny things to you - a heavy rocker friend of mine had two fish named Hall and Oates!
