Good shots - the first one does a good job for the dance. The second one has more of a feel of theatre.
How large is the stage? Seems like you are using a long lens. Judging by the DOF of the images, seems like an abundance of light.

Wonderful shots. What was the ambient lighting? Looks like there must have been ample stage lighting, rather than the limited theatrical spots that you are sometimes stuck with. You did a wonderful job.
I've taken lot's of live dance photos using both 70-200IS2.8 and 24-70L, and even with fast glass, the lighting is often poor. ... What was your set up?

I use 30D with 70-200mm and 5D with 28-70mm but both of these photos were taken by 30D 70-200mm set up.
The first shot is from Boston Ballet's Nutcracker the second one is Romeo and Juliet, John Cranko's Choreography.
The stage is huge it's in Boston called Citi Wang Theatre.

The first photograph is from Serenade by George Balanchine the second is La Sylphide from August Bournonville.
I shot both of these photos with 30D iso 800 and up 70-200mm L.
Both of these photographs were taken of Boston Ballet awhen they were on tour in Spain.

I just noticed that your second shot was taken at 200mm with shutter @ 1/50 pushed to 1250. Either you have an increadibly steady hand, or you were on a pole/pod?? Either way, GREAT shot.;)

Yes I took that @ 1/50 1250 iso without pod/pole because i like to move around quickly.
