First post.
I shoot both an XTi and a 30D, just picked up a Sigma 10-20 because everything longer just felt too "cramped"

No pp really (or that I remember) other than cropping down.
Comments appreciated. :)

Honestly they just look like snapshots to me. I'm not quite sure how you could make the shots interesting either.

I have to agree, they're more like snapshots. Also, both photo were taken at 18mm..why not 10mm?
You should try something like this picture from Thijs Heslenfeld.
He's a great photographer that often does these kind of sailing shots.

Just got the Sigma.
Those are from back in Oct.
Definitely felt VERY very "cramped" without the 10.
Better to come now that a wider lense has been purchased.

Oh I see, you didn't have the sigma back then for these shots?
You really should try to make a similar picture like the one I posted. Should be feasible with your 10-20mm lens, for sure! ..When are you going sailing again?

Another month or two of dealing with the cold here in New England before the sled goes back in the water and we get to play again.
Its especially hard being part of the crew to get action shots as I'm expected to do stuff. ;)
This is from a couple years ago. One of the rare moments of me not being on the pointy end.
Start of the 06 Newport-Bermuda race.

I see the excitement here. The fun starts when the sails fill, the boat heels, and away you go. I think you have captured that feeling here. ;)
As part of the crew, they actually expect you to do things?

I think they're OK. How many places can you stand on a boat? You should get some great shots with that new lens!

You're right - not many of these shots lately. Sure is a view I've never experienced before. Thanks for sharing.

First picture is pretty good I think. At first I thought it might be a Farr 40, but the second picture suggests something a little larger? A UWA is a good lens for this type of work as even a big boat can seem cramped. I do competitive big boat racing and trying to get good pictures on a constantly moving platform is challenging.

Shindig (she's ex-Titan XI/Grins)
You're probably familiar with the GL 70's (Mostly converted Santa Cruz 70's) which are non-turbos (Shindig has a taller fractional rig and she draws a couple extra feet of water.)
Here she is sitting in her cradle waiting for the snow to go away. ;)
Test shot with the Sigma 10-20 which I'm sure will get abused thoroughly this summer.

Renegade and Equation are a couple of the local Andrews 70's, there's another one but I can't remember its name. And of course a few GL70's. Anyhow "happy sailing" I bet your looking forward to winter being over.

I'm gonna guess its Decision thats up there also.
She t-boned Shindig when she was Titan XI down at KWRW about 4-5 years ago. Karma came around in the form of Katrina but didn't sustain much damage at all and then was sold.

Is that a stealth ship? Not familiar with that kind of boat.

I've also crewed on the San Diego Maritime museum's Californian (which was where I took the above image from), the HM Bark Endeavour replica, and a couple of day sails on Hawaiian Chieftan and Lady Washington.
The museum is having another Festival of Sail (http://www.sdmaritime.org/ContentPage.asp?ContentID=542) event this summer.

Yep...
