View Full Version : Aussie trash the dress session on beach

hey all
I had a trash the dress shoot on sunday. I wanted to focus more on the couple having fun as most of the shoots I have seen have been more modelling session orientated, focussing on the bride. I did a few of the bride by herself but I think the best shots were the last ones in the water with both of them.
brave couple!

Love #11. I almost think a tighter crop would be nice to see.

A very different concept - thrashing the dress, which I'm sure not many brides would want ot do. On the photographs - they've come out very interesting

- Fantastic job. Well done and some great captures.

thanks everyone. I should be doing more soon, I've emailed a link to the photos to my recent brides who haven't done their album yet and a surprising number said they want to do it.

One of the best of this type series I have seen.
I'm still waiting for my first brave couple. Since I own a couple Bridal Shops, I just might take an old gown and stage one. Don't think it will be the same though.

Beautiful and fun captures. I love the colors of the sky and also how you captured the crashing waves.

I love #14 also; the contrast of him shirtless and her in the dress is very cool. I didn't pay attention to the horizon, sorry.

Agree with the others, some of the best of this type of work I have seen on here! What a great location to have access to. I really like the crashing wave pictures!

Yeah sorry about the logo guys. By putting it in bottom right I'd hoped it wasn't overly distracting.
I have seen my images get "stolen" before so have used that watermark for 3yrs or so now

I think most of them look too contrived. In my opinion, at TSD session should be fun and spontaneous, not posed, uncomfortable and boring. That's how I read it. That being said, there are couple of shots that look much less contrived and more natural.

There are some really good photos here. #3 and #4 are really nice. I also like the photos of them in the water. Good timing!

Well mate you are entitled to your opinion certainly - looking at them though I can't see for the life of me that they are contrived, posed, uncomfortable & boring. Really I can't.

Now that's the way you trash a dress. These shots are beautiful.

Stunning shots.
Not something I would like to try around here though with water temp at 4 deg c just now.:)
The couple here looked like they thoroughly enjoyed this shoot and this comes over in the shots.

They're great when they got warmed -up and started having fun. I think the first few are a bit stoic. :)
Loving the last few!

hi nelly, I normally swap lenses a fair bit if you ask which particular photo I can tell you.
I think it was a mix of the 200/1.8, the 135/2, the 16-35 and the last bunch were the 70-200.

some fantastic shots there, i've never heard of a trash the dress shoot before but i like the idea, just wish it was warm enough here in Scotland to get into the sea for something similar

This is a great set, well composed, exposed, good color, good black and white conversions. What makes this great about all of the technical goodies, is that they genuinely looked like they had a blast and you were able to capture it. Kudos!
