I really like #1. The vignetting works well and the colours are perfect.

#1 - Excellent shot and excellent post processing - no changes needed.

The others I don't care for as much - busy a bit...the 3rd one has a persons back in lots of the frame. Last one I think would have been better in landscape orientation.

Awsome pp on these.
I like all 4 for different reasons. 3 is more journalistic than artisitc as compared to the others.

2 is tilting to the right a little & 4 is tilting to the left alot. (if that guy lets go of the stroller it looks like it will roll away!)

huh. I guess I have a very different view point
1 is a technically nice image, but for me its not nyc, nor does it tell a story. If you could see more of the city sky line, even blurred, it would work much better for me.
2.your main subject is a little to small, and I am lost in it.
3.I really really like it. I do wish the girl on the right was not blocking the view a little, so it was composed a little better. never the less the expressions are price less.
4. It is nice. I think it would have worked better in the landscape orientation. If you have not told me about the people frozen in the middle, I would not have seen it.

The first is my favourite, but I like them all. I think the second & fourth shots need leveling though, especially the last one.

First one is my favorite too. Great shots.

#1 is very NYC. Give me money, see the sights. Want more? Pay more money. Seems half the bodies on the street are either tourists or people visiting on business.

#1 doesn't need to tell a story. It is the story. Sightseeing at a price.

May be so Cos. But as someone who lived in NYC for 6 years, it is not NYC for me. I like the urban picture much better. Also as I mentioned, if you could see a real city skyline behind the paid telescope, it would work much better.
I also did not quite get the sight seeing at a price from that image. that very well may have been the artist's intentions.

City behind it is Brooklyn

City behind it is Brooklyn

Exactly.

I think what's lost in this discussion is if it's a good shot. Yes. I think it's exceptional. If we want to pull apart the merits of it fitting the thread title then that doesn't work in the photography world. It's a set of images under a forum title. The title espouses the location at which they are shot. I think we can relax regular photographic titling adherents when posting stuff online.

In a competition, a gallery etc this shot may not be titled NYC. It could be something else.

So lets gets past the title restriction and get back to the shots.

i love #1

But i am definitely drawn to #3, i think that it shows how we are, always in a rush. I like that the man and woman with the baby are "frozen". Very interesting =D

As I said, I think the first image is a nice image, but for ME it does not say New York. Does not take away from the quality or beauty of the image. I am also not "pulling apart the merit of any title to the thread". The photojournalistic message in image 1, which was apparent to Cosworth, and probably a group of other observers was just not apparent to me. Thats as compared to image 3 and 4, which I find more powerful, even though 1 may be aesthetically more appealing.
Its not a matter of "title restrictions" or "some one who finally understand things", but a matter of impact of an image ON ME, vs technical and aesthetic appeal of it.
