I have a Sigma 15-30 on my D60 - very pleased with it so far ... nice and sharp!

Reading various reviews, comments, etc. the Sigma Pro lenses are a lot better than their 'standard' counterparts. The 15-30mm seems to be a lot better than the 17-35mm for instance.

I was confronted with the same decisions when I first recieved my D60. I looked at the Sigma 15-30, looked good. I also read some good reports on it. My only problem was I wanted to use a polarizing filter and you can't with the Sigma. So I bit the bullet and bought a Canon 16-35 2.8/L. Great lens. Another option is to buy a canon 20-35 3.5-4.5. It's sharper than the 17-35 L and very inexpensive. Then go out and find yourself a 14mm. I know Sigma has one, but I don't know about the filter issue.
good luck!

Yeah, the filter issue is a bit of a pig - I've got mine with a skylight filter on.

After a while though you get into the habit of making the picture bigger than you would really like before you have to crop later to get rid of the corners !
