Parked the car and walked a short distance up the fell, needed time out from the bad things that have happened today, I know that this is a 'one way' valley that the jets use so thought I would have an hour in the sun and silence that this area provides.
Taken just off Dunmail Raise in the English Lake District this was my first time 'Big Bird Hunting' - its tough, lol !

4. Onwards into the beauty of the Lake District, looking North towards Thirlmere, we have a couple of Lake District icons, Dry Stone walls and Hills !

Ian
put this first time down to 'experience' and get to know your subject better
as an example you must of been shooting at that location from lunchtime or after as the sun is working against you
the other side of the valley offers better shots in the afternoon
Dunmail east is good for morning shooting but most other photogs who are into Low level 'swap' sides around 12.30pm
and being brutally honest about the pictures you have posted here,
they are not Low enough
pic 1 is much too far away, and too small in the frame
pic 2 is backlit so much that the pic is ruined
pic 3 well... I know you wont be printing it out anytime soon
pic 4 is again too small in the frame
sorry if your offended by my comments - but like all photography practice practice practice
getting good shots of the RAF Low flying takes time and lots of waiting and waiting and waiting
and it will come right for you, so next time get the sun behind you
good luck next time you visit the hills

Chris not offended at all, reason I went up there was I had just left my Brothers house in Windermere as we lost my Neice, his daughter, this morning so needed time out on my own, hence bad day in the initial post !
I knew as soon as I walked up the hill I was in the wrong place but I was only there on the off chance so happy I saw anything at all !
Off work 2moro aswell as have a nasty tooth abcess so may nip upto Tebay gorge, I learnt today that walking up hills makes an abcess throb like you would not believe, at least at Tebay I may be nearly level, lol !

tebay is having a good time of things just lateley... so could well be a good choice for your next outing
east side in the mornings and the west side from lunchtime onwards
take some ear defenders as the road noise really bugs me when I go there

Coolio, West side is my side ( Kendal ) and as an ex bike racer I have hundreds of earplugs, i-pod may be better though :) will cross ref some websites in the morning for an easy viewpoint as honestly the throbbing from my gob was really not funny + unless these anti-biotics kick in very soon I can hardly talk either !

Hi Ian
Condolences on your loss in the family.
If you want a nice easy day of it just head upto the mast on the west side.Hope you have some better luck than I've had up there though.
Cheers

Yours looks great, what do you suggest with mine, I have CS3 ? I used a Layer > Levels Adjustment layer I think * just cranked up the two left settings.
Or play with the exposure using a selection & a Layer mask. See post #9; PS Elements in Post # 14
