Only the Shadow knows. :) Probably in the fall if history holds true.

If they do Spring rebates this year like they did in '07 and '06 then I'd say somewhere in April or May.

Check this link out: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Canon-Lenses/Canon-Lens-Rebates.aspx

Yes, buy a 40D slr or greater and one of the selected canon printers between 02/03 and 04/19 and get 200$ back.

Looks like in the past couple of years, they've started up anywhere from April 1 to May 17.

Sure hope the MPE65 gets a nice big rebate.:)

Yes, and when they do, the rebate form will be microscopic so you have to photogaph it with the 65, print it and then fill it out, sort of like a proof of purchase:lol:

never knew they did 2 rebate periods. pretty solid of them to do a thing like that.

Or it just shows how much of a mark-up/profit margin there is on most L lenses...

I bet they easily sell 60% of their higher end lenses (by volume) during the rebate periods.

Oh and BTW B&H gave a instant rebate 125$ on my 20-200L 2.8 IS and 80$ on my 24-70L 2.8.

If they are paying attention to the "Stimulus Package" situation going on in here in the U.S., they would be wise to offer some rebates around the time the checks actually start going out.

I was a huge fan of their recent rebate season...got 4 lenses and a flash, saving $270 :D
I liked the rebates because they were instant...heard bad things about their mail-in rebates.
Does anyone know if their current (March-July) rebates are also of the instant variety?

I'm in the same boat too - although I can save $100 on a 70-200 2.8 IS now, I'm holding out to see if there are double rebates, then I may even be able to get TWO lenses! Come on ya Canon bastards!!

I thought for sure Canon would release SOMETHING today, i.e. rebates, but nothing.

Here's their press release page: Does anyone know any other locations to check where they post stuff about rebates (besides the EOS product page)?

I spoke with B&H and they haven't heard from Canon. I also emailed Canon asking what's up - we'll see what they say.

Maybe they're waiting to time the rebates with the release of the XSi.

Both actual availability (on the shelves) of the XSi & rebates in Europe seemed to occur during the same week...maybe they're waiting until the XSi starts hitting stores here in the US before releasing the rebates.

This is just pure speculation though!

Well I heard back from Canon, saying they don't know anything about new rebate. I have decided to go ahead with picking up a lens. No more waiting!

Of course they don't!

The new rebates will probably be released within the next 2 weeks, right after your lens arrives! Thanks for going ahead & ordering your lens so the rebates will come!

Anything to help a fellow POTN member! :)

In that case I hope the rebates are mail-in types that cover from April 1st!
(but knowing my luck, it will probably start April 2nd haha)

I recall someone asking for all the previous Canon Rebates:

Well here they are, all of them since 2005. I just put them all in one .pdf chronologically to make things a little easier.

Spring rebates have got to be JUST around the corner!
I figure with the Olympics starting in August, they might be purposefully delaying the rebates a bit, so they can run them to the end of July.

I'm thinking the 2008 rebates will probably start Thursday, May 2, 2008.

Previous Rebate Periods:
Spring 2007: May 17 - July 16
Spring 2006: April 1 - July 15
Spring 2005: April 15 - July 15

Well, I waited and waited for it, and never came - so I paid full retail for my 70-200mm f/2.8 IS. I figured I'd may be save $150 with the rebate and it's not worthwhile!! Yes, I'm very happy now. :)

Perhaps Canon feels that, due to LOW LOW $USD currency, there would be no profit after the rebates, given the current prices.

I wonder if they work like car dealerships? The day after one offer expires, they come out with a different one!

With the current rebate with the printers ending on Apr 19, does that mean on the 20th, they'll have a new offer?

My plan was to buy this weekend, so I guess i'll wait till Sunday, just in case!
