Well... I was brushing my teeth today and saw that. Shows the stress in my household I suppose. Never thought a plastic door-stop would eventually put a crack/hole in a door :)

I am not too pleased with the outcome just yet... I wanted a more dramatic effect... I think it needs a bit more contrast. Maybe more direct lighting.

EXIF intact. Lighting was my Vivitar 283 bounced off the wall/mirror.

Crits encouraged :)

You need to crop more. Zoom in more. Isolate the hinge and the door stop. Wood right? A cracked or dented wood surface would produce some nice texture. Try to capture that. Hence, you would need light to bring out the contrast.

How's this?

Use the rule of 3rd. Zoom in more. Have the hinge lining up very close to the edge of the picture frame. You need to fill up the hinge and the door stop entirely in the frame that forms the inverted L shape. The door stop and the crack on the door should have very good detail and sharpness. They are the focus of the picture.

And make the hole a smoldering crater!

That's really tempting me to take a shot of the hole one of those door stops put in my door.
