Downloading images

So what's the preferred method for d/loading images?

With my G2, I rip the CF card out and stick it in a card reader.

Is this what most people do, or do they leave the card in permenantly and plug in the USB cable?

I'm trying to work out which is kinder on the hardware - pulling out CF cards all the time, or plugging / unplugging USB leads ...

Much faster, and easier on batteries.

Card reader. Or a PC Card adapter for your PC Card slot in a laptop. Only time I hook up a cable to the camera is to play with the internal camera info (owner, etc.).
