Is there a problem in downloading photos taken the same day to the same PC from two different cameras.
Thanks

Only if both cameras use the same file-naming convention. My 10D, S410 and dearly-departed G1 (RIP) all use IMG_XXXX.JPG for JPGs. If one is not careful, it's possible to overwrite one camera's files with another's.

Is there a way around that.
The two cameras are 300D and 20D.

Can ZB handle that.

Sorry I don't know that. I don't use ZB, I copy the files via a card reader.

The two cameras mentioned (20D and 300D) use totally different file naming schemes as well....

Nope not completely  If I remember correct ( am at work so can't check)
On 300D
Raw's are named CRWxxxx.crw
JPG's are named IMGxxxx.jpg
On 20D
Raw's are named IMGxxxx.cr2
JPG's are named IMGxxxx.jpg
Don't remember if _ is included

The 300D use this format: IMG_xxx
I don't use raw so I don't know its format.
Thanks

I just checked it and the filenames are
On 300D
Raw's are named CRW_xxxx.crw
JPG's are named IMG_xxxx.jpg
On 20D
Raw's are named IMG_xxxx.cr2
JPG's are named IMG_xxxx.jpg
So JPG's definately will overwrite each other if they have the same seq-number.

Any suggestion on how to handle that.

I download from a 10D and 300D ... using card reader and Canon software I just rename the files as they are copied onto a folder on the hard drive ... i.e. rename the file with the first three or four letters of the subject (or, more often than not, the location) and start at 001. e.g. shots from Toronto Island would be renamed ISL001.jpg, ISL002.jpg, etc. Download all from one card, then the next, picking up the file number where the last left off ....
cheers,
jim

Weird...
My 20D file names are like this
"_mg_xxxx.jpg"
Note the lack of an "I" ... it's _mg ???
So why is my 20D different? :?

CDS, you're set to AdobeRGB, not sRGB.
PacAce figured that out for me a while back.
For me, I have a 10D and 20D. When I rolled over the 10D (>10,000 images) I started renaming to CRW_1xxxx.* and when I got the 20D I rename them to IMG_5xxxx.*. Now I have no chance of overwiritng a 10D image or develop with a 20D and vice versa.

I download each camera into its own folder, preserving the \###CANON folders, then do a batch rename incorporating the model number into the file and folder names (\DCIM-20D\102C_20D\102-0204_20D.JPG)

You rename them on downlaod? or are you saying there is a way to get the camera to use a different file naming system?

No, I rename after I copy them from CF or X-Drive. I've got batch files and Perl scripts that do all that for me. So I plug my card and/or X-Drive in and type "getraw" and walk away. It then copies the files to the HD, renames them, and fires up Capture 1 so it can scan and make previews. (Well, not on the 20D. Grrrrr.)
One of these days I'll even have them update EXIF and IPTC fields.
Nah, that's too organized for me.

Card reader, i create the folder it will go into. Typically by month, but lately by game or event (in the case of the photostudio sending me out).
I then drag and drop

Thanks TQ,
If one is using drag and drop then there is no problem w/ two cameras I guess. The problem is I like using ZB, it's very neat.

I have two G1's and I want to use zoom browser for both camera's. I put the pic's in different folders but ZB didn't like the same file names and freaked.

Fake the system out by forcing one of them to start numbering at, say, image 50,000 (DCIM\500CANON\IMG_0001.JPG). If you're not using auto-reset of the numbering, rename a file/folder combo on the CF card and load that up in one of the two. Just make sure you keep the cards used in the two cameras straight. Are you using the latest version of Zb? currently it's up to 4.6, IIRC.
