Hi, I'm thinking about upgrading my s230 to a new s500, and I'm wondering if the movie mode is just as good on the s500. I really like my 230, but the quality of the movies is my only apprehension. Thanks for any help,!!, Raymo

The movie quality / resolution are the same on both cameras.

I would check, I think the 640x video is on 10fps, which is way too slow.

Terry, you are correct. At the highest resolution, the S500 records at approximately 10 fps, while the S230 records at approximately 15 fps. I stand corrected. By the way, have you noticed the specs on the Canon Digital ELPH SD200 and SD300's movie modes? 60fps!

Yes, but I would rather use CompactFash cards than the Secure Digital (SD) cards these cameras use.

Why? At least with SD cards, there's no possiblility of bent CF card slot pins.
