I just bought a new A95, my first digital, and the rainy season is just kicking off up here. Is there a way to keep my camera dry that is somewhere in between a plastic baggie and a $200 waterproof housing. I've got a lens adapter and a UV lens on it. Any ideas or advice?

It's a matter of degrees.... The expensive housing offers the best protection, whereas the baggie provides just better then no protection.
Some generic underwater housings are avaliable, but because they are generic, they won't provide easy operation like from the hard case from Canon.
At $200 it's a pricey option, but if it saves your camera from getting fried, it's free if you consider the repair or replacement cost of the dead camera...

good morning...i've seen large plastic bag for cameras....they have a sort of zip lock / wrap velco closing for about 40.00 . I use a large zip lock with the bigger zipper mechanisism and when i'm in my canoe i use a small pellican box ( water tight and floats and bright color to be seen if ever...)....up here on cold days i use a soft shell lunch box just big enough for the camera and the adapter and on very cold days in the inside pocket i slip a hand warmer pack...it keep the inside just warm enough to keep the camera and batteries happy without creating condensation...i keep the camera still in zip lock for added protection....so if you ever see some guy snowshooing wiht a lunch pale slung around his neck ....well that would be me....lol......take care

hey there... i recently went tubing down a river here in texas and i took along my small s400 camera.
i went to REI and bought one of these small Aquapac water proof bags. they are very think and seal VERY well. they have many different sizes and are not very expensive.
aquapac at REI (http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?vcat=REI_SEARCH&stat=7889&langId=-1&storeId=8000&textQuery=aquapac&x=27&y=17)
just be sure to throw some incascent (?sp) packs in there as well to help keep moisture down. those packs are like the ones that come in new pairs of shoes etc. when i was at REI i just ask the shoe salesman if i could have some that were laying around. they throw them away anyways
