Need Advice on Photographing Books

I am sorry, I probably posted this in the wrong forum, I need to photograph some books, to get the normal look should i photograph it straight on, or should I scan it in. These books are glossy photo covers, and so, I am not sure whats the best setting to scan it in with. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'd scan books before photographing if I had the choice. It will certainly be a lot easier.

I've done it many times, many ways....never the quality I want.
If you can scan them, do it.
If not, use a copy stand, and hold the book as flat as possible using a piece of no-glare glass.
