I installed the latest firmware hack on my 300D, and it works fine, however I was wondering if anyone knows of a hack that will let me set my ISO at 1000 or 1200. I have been shooting football at night, and have been shooting at 1600, I would really like to lower it some, but not all the way to 800. I guess I should just buy a 20D.

You won't see ISO 1000 or 1200 on a 20D. Of the camera's currently in production, only the 1 Series cameras offer fractional ISO settings. OTOH, ISO 1600 on a 20D looks marvelous from the pictures I've seen.

Canon D60 has ISO 1000 (which is a fractional settting).
Where did you get your bad information?

Last I checked Bob,... the D60 was no longer in production???
So who has the bad information?
And how is any of this pertinant to whether or not the original poster can get ISO 1000 on a 300D?
Sheesh :?
Slin is correct.
To get the fractional ISO settings form a NEW camera a '1' is required.

Nobody made the qualifier that it had to be a currently produced camera. The D60 is a currently supported camera, and many still own it and use it. So, I stand by my statement.
I don't believe that the Digital Rebel needs to have ISO 1000. It would be easier to set it to ISO 800 or 1600 and then do some compensation to effectively bring it up or down by a fractional amount.

Qualifer ;)
but I agree, use ISO 800 and tweak the levels/curve/exp compensation 1/3 of a stop. Results will be fine :)

I beleive Sir Richard allready pointed out "Of the camera's currently in production"
The Qualifier was made.. you mis read it.. twice.
I think the larger point is, again.. your bringing up the D60.. whether you stand by it or not, .. whether it was pertinant or not,. was brought up solely so you could be right about something and send a DIG at Slin.
To what end?
Why post if you offer nothing of value to the discussion?

Why is it difficult for a camera to have fractional ISO values? Doesn't the voltage generated simply get multiplied during processing?

It's not difficult.
But neither is a spot-meter feature ... Go figure

From what I can tell, I missed the words "in production" in my first reading. That's odd, because of the human errors that I am prone to, that sort of mistake is not one of them. My apologies.

You just might consider another route- A faster lens !
On the other hand - you didn't mention what your subject and light conditions are .
