This was my first attempt at shooting surfing, and I've got to say I have a new-found respect for pro surf photogs - this gig is hard! I was using a 70-200 f/2.8L with a Kenko 2x TC, and these are three of my favourites.

Thanks, Liam. I also like number 2 a lot, I think it's probably the best I got from the day. Surf photography certainly is a lot harder than I anticipated!

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'd really like some advice on how these could be made better if anyone has any! I'm not sure about whether my composition/timing etc is quite right...

Noone has any advice on how I can improve these...? It was my first attempt, I can't have got them right first time round! I'm not usually one to shark for comments, but I'd really like some advice on what I can do better before I go back and give it another go.

1st and 2nd look great, 2nd being by far the best. you caught the surfer in 2 at the peak of the turn, with the fan spray at the overall height.
3rd- you know hes doing a floater over the section but not extremely interesting, not a terrible shot though
keep up the good work

Hi Andrew...
I shoot Dbah fairly regularly and I would suggest you just keep doin what ya doin..... You got everything right here.....
The morning sun can be a right pain but you can always get a position to minimise it.
Good stuff especially using the 2 times on the 70-200.... I generally use something a bit bigger..
I am sorry that I cant add too much except you have done well with these....

Nice shots!
I read surf mags fairly regularly and these shots could be from a mag easily. The 2nd as everone has said is the best, really nice composition. 3 is lacking something maybe, perhaps you would have been better to position the surfer on the left of the pic and have the wake of his board leading up the wave. still, it is a good shot anyway!
nice sequence for 1. as well.
Those waves look beautiful by the way! wish i was out there! stuck in the midlands of England...rubbish!
