My A630 recently has a black screen when in the camera mode. If I take a picture anyway it is all black with no image. Earlier pictures taken on the memory card are visible, but I can no longer take pictures. Would this be a defective image sensor? If so will Canon take care of it?

Possibly. or possibly a bad connection to the sensor. I'd expect a sensor problem to show up gradually, not all at once. As to whether they'll fix it, sure, although maybe not for free unless you're still under warranty.

It had been doing this off and on until today and now it is unusable. The warranty expired 2 months ago. I haven't used this camera much. It would be great if Canon would take care of this like they are with the other cameras with the bad sensors. The a630 is not listed by Canon as one with a bad sensor.
