May I ask a stupid question,please?
I've just bought a Sandisc Ultra 11 for my new Canon 10d.The Canon handbook says to insert the cf card with card label and triangle facing posteriorly. There is ,however, a label on both sides and no triangle.
One label is white with space for labelling the card, the other has "Sandisc" ,"Ultra" and the size.I presume this should be facing posteriorly, but contacted Sandisc.
They didn't know but said I should contact Canon.Canon didn't know and said I should contact Sandisc.
I thought I'd ask some experts.

The Sandisk 'product' label should face to the rear. In addition, most CF Type 1 cards have a small lip that usually represents the reverse side (back side) of the card. That side should face towards the front of the camera.

Let us know if that does not agree with what you see, or if it does not seem to work.

Have Fun,

It will only go in one way. But...

The connection holes go in first. There should be a label on it which faces the rear of the camera. On the side opposite to the label and at the other end from the holes you will also feel a ridge. This goes towards the front of the camera.

You will not be able to push it in the wrong way unless you really foce it. It will slide in gently and then a nudge at the end to engage the pins.

Hi Jim

put the card - colour side (not the white label) in with contacts (holes) going in first - this way you should be able to see screen of camera and the colour side as you put it in. By the way, it will not go in the other way :)

Yes, welcome. But I'm not surprised Canon said to contact the CF maker. After all, how many different card makers are there that they'd need to be able to answer that one for? They should be able to give some generic directions such as "the top faces the back", leaving it up to you to figure out the "top" for your brand, but to know how which model of which brand is labelled is a bit heavy.
