I recently purchase the Canon 70-200 f/4 lens, to protect the lens I also purchased a Kalimar UV filter. I had never heard of Kalimar, how do they compare to Hoyer (sp?). Thanks for any info.

Hey Hank.
I have a Kalimar lens and if there is any comparison between Kalimar lenses and their other products then you will find out that they are not of high standards. (maybe a little too harshly stated, but I am trying to be brief)

Ron Chappell was very helpful in explaining their manufacturing process. Maybe he knows more about this filter as well ;)
I don't know if this helps you much, it could very well be a very good product. (Actually, I am quite happy with the lens even though the "glass" is plastic. haha)

Thanks for the info. I will search for your post. I just don't want to put a crappy filter on an expensive lens, maybe I will go out an purchase the Hoyer or whatever it is called.
