I am going to be doing some outside portaits for friends in a month or so. I am *not* a professional. Photography is a hobby of mine. The family has 4 girls, aged 2, 4, 5, and 7. The difficult part now however is the parents are divorcing, but they still want a family portrait. How do I pose the parents? I need some advice! If you have any family portraits to share I would appreciate that as well! Thanks everyone!

hmm divorced my self, i would say tell the parents for one day to put their differences aside, as this shoot is not only for them, but very much also for the kids, they will have a picture of their family together, which they will very much cherish later on.
i am not a pro so i cant give any other ideas, i am sorry. oh and good luck with it!

Noelle,
It shouldn't be a problem as long as there isn't visible acrimony between the parents. Don't place them close together though, because that could lead to discomfort. Try seating the parents with the two biggest kids placed between them kind of overlapping and the smallest kids either in a lap or standing in front -- something that will be family but won't be squishing alienated adults next to each other.
Good luck!
