My closest cousin was killed in Iraq over Christmas. I did not have my camera at the airport when his body returned, but I was asked to have it at the funeral. I wouldn't ever have thought to have brought it otherwise, but I suppose in this case, I'm glad I did.

These were all shot with the kit lens on the XTi...ive since invested in some lenses with image stabilzer in them for times when i really just shouldnt use a flash... No flash was used...they were all hand held at a pretty slow shutter speed...

He was a volunteer firefighter while he was becoming an eagle scout, and every fire department we passed on the way to the cemetary had the flag hanging from their ladders.

This is probably my favorite pic of them all. and the saddest. I edited it to my personal liking, tho a little dark, just trying something different.

Incredible.

#'s 4 and 5 resonate most with me, while #3 is a testament to the Texas I've always loved.

Very nice job.

RIP, sir.

Wow. That dog tag shot is just... the epitome of storytelling. That one shot said all of what you were trying to capture, and I wouldn't change a single thing about it. I'm sorry for your family's loss, and am thankful for all that our servicemen do for protecting us US citizens.

I couldn't stare at it for 2 seconds without tears; it's that moving. I'm not overly sensitive, but man that shot just moved me to tears. I'm sorry for your loss, but grateful for your cousin's sacrifice for our freedom.

Ditto!

Maybe a bit off topic, but these young men are the ones that people dis-respect when the american flag is burn. These brave american soldiers gave it all.

Very moving work.

Excellent work. These images bring into focus what sacrifice military family members suffer when a loved one is lost.

I think the Dog Tag image is the strongest of them all. Please register your images with the copyright office and maintain the copyright. I am sorry to bring it up now, but there are those that will remove your image and use it for their own purposes.

Again, my condolances to you and your family.
