Anybody had any experience with this?

I tried mine the other night and found there to be quite a lot of grain and I ended up taking the camera back home and using my g3 instead!

I don't know if it's just where I need to learn more about the camera or where I was using the pro 1 in low light and the g3 when the sun had completely gone but the g3 seemed to be far less grainy alough the noise was of a similar level if that makes sense.

The pro 1 pics had more of a bad jpeg look to them such as things in the distance just being a kinda indistinct mass of blur alough It cant have been camera shake cause I was using a tripod.

I just wondered if anyone else has experience with night shots with this camera and if I just had some bad luck because I'm more comfortable with my g3

I just don't want to think that the pro 1 I just paid a lot for has worse low light/night performance than the g3!

Here are the pictures I got with the g3

I'm going to try the pro 1 in various situations over the weekend and I will let you know how I get on.

Welcome on board .
I like VERY MUCH your long exposure pictures.
Especially the one where two guys are fighting and one
of them is REALLY fast like Superman :) :) :)
Keep posting

Very creative. The Pro 1 has more noise issues because of pixel density on a small CCD chip. Search the forum and you'll find complaints, rants, and comparisons about this.

Thanks for the compliments!!

But it wasn't so much the noise that was bothering me, there seemed to be a lot more artifacts on the pictures compared to my g3.

Then I noticed something...

The pictures I had taken in auto mode were around 3.0 meg in size and the ones taken in manual mode about 1.6

DOH!!!

Stupid canon!

The first thing I did when I got the camera was set the quality to superfine but I only did it for auto mode!

So the problem was that in manual mode the pictures were only being saved as fine quality giving more artifacts and of course exaggerating the noise!!

Oh well

At least I found out eventually

Why do they always set it to fine??????

grrr
