Photo projects needed

My two weeks vacation will start today, and will be spending most of it in an out of town house. Naturally, I will be taking as many photos as I can. So can you give me some suggestions/ideas to photograph.

My 5 day vacation started today. My biggest problem is that I'm having a few car problems which could keep me from going anywhere...bummer.

Either way, I was plannin to go to the mountains close by and snap a few pictures of the fall colors. Maybe that's an idea for you too.

That works! It's overcast today anyway. Not sure today would be a great day for lanscape photography. But, then again, clouds are supposed to be big softboxes, so who knows.

I guess I could. But, I don't think they'd like that so much. I don't think mechanics really enjoy people looking over their shoulder.

Plus, I'm not too interested in photojournalism...though it would be an interesting subject.

Take a look at your own neighbourhood. Use your photographers eye to see it differently.

You might be surprised with the people and places around you.

You can give yourself assignments.

Day1: Shoot something round.
Day2: Shoot something red.
Day3: Shoot public transportion
Day4: Shoot political signs
Day5: Shoot something electronic
Day6: Shoot your favorite song

Anyway, you get the hint...Over at Fred Miranda, they have an assignment forum. It can be a lot of fun. I have not had the time to participate in the last couple of years, but it's fun.

- EXCELLENT idea! I REALLY like that. I really wish I would had gotten this suggestion when I started my vacation two days ago. Really only have three days left in the weekend.

RFMS already mentioned the assignments at FM, and there's always photofriday.com. You can just go back each week and see what the contest was and do old contests..

Any possible way that we could start a weekly assignments board or thread here on this board? Not trying to steal the idea, but I'm sure there are those (like me) who spend most of their time on this board versus other photography boards.

I say we leave the competitions in place and just have a weekly assignment set up for fun (not competition).
