View Full Version : Why do all my pictures seem grainy?

Lately a ton of my pictures have been coming out grainy. Is this a photographers error or a camera error. It's in almost every picture and it seems to be geared towards things with a lot of red.

The higher the ISO the grainer the photos will be.
Combined with very low light levels the more apparent the grain will be.

That would explain my problem then, seeing as how i was shooting at 1600 ISO. It seemed the darker the photo the grainier they were, and it was most apparent in the reds (which are a dark color)

That would explain my problem then, seeing as how i was shooting at 1600 ISO. It seemed the darker the photo the grainier they were, and it was most apparent in the reds (which are a dark color)
Underexposure and trying to fix it afterwards will greatly increase noise also. If you do this you are really shooting at an effective ISO higher than 1600.
Of course the camera model will have an effect also.
