Very interesting - it's amazing the value that people attribute to what some consider to be "art" and images.

I'm a firm believer in art and photography, and I come from a family of artists. But unless "art" is made of some intrinsically valuable material like gold, silver, platinum or precious stones, it has no REAL value..... only what people attribute to it. But thats' still great news for the craft :D.

Do "intrinsically valuable" materials have any real value? They have useful properties and are rare enough that people are willing to exchange something else for those materials. I guess it depends on how you define real value.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Getty... whether they will keep it pretty much in it's current form or break it up or add other things to it. After all it is an investment firm that has bought them.
