I just shot this with the new 20 D. I know the composition is poor. Please tell me what you think of it. It was shot using a 24 - 70 L at 1/1000 f7.1 38mm wide and auto foucus.
the pic below is a photo bucket hosted site, here iis the link to it at pbase
http://www.pbase.com/sjh/image/35344025 it seems that the pbase hosted shots "view" better.

The shot is rather bland. The title is "storm" but nothing in the image hints that it's anything but an overcast day.
Maybe a smaller apeture and a longer exposure would help.

It could definitely use some contrast, and something in the sky. On a shot like this it may be worth bracketing - darker trees with more life in the clouds would have looked better.
The tree on the right is disturbing since it's blocking the mountain/hill at the end of the river. It would have been nice to see this - it's seems like it would have made a good anchor for the shot. Moving yourself lower and to the left would probably make for a better lead-line to the mountain.
It looks like you still have some time to wait for some more colors in the foliage. If you get the sun right the reflections in the still water could be spectacular.
