Hi. I was just curious...as I'm sure many of you do self employed wedding photography, what do you do about contracts, if any??? Should I write one up? What should it document? I want to begin wedding photography as a career and work for myself, just have some questions before i dive in! Thanks alot! -Pat-

I had my sister in law (who is a lawyer) write one up.
I would highly recommend you do...especially if dealing with folks outside of your immediate family or circle of friends.
...if you hose something up, you want to have your liability limited by a contract.
that being said...consider working with someone for your first couple of weddings. it will be a valuable use of your time, and will make your final products (and your portfolio) better.

You might take a look at ours on our website - see the Wedding Photography section; it's one of the links at the bottom of the page.
I compiled it from several resources including standard PPA contract recommended for their members few years ago...

Thank you for the contract ideas Slava! I just finished writing one for a client and yours helped me a great deal!
Thanks for posting the link!
Great site as well. Your work is tremendous. Hopefully, I'll get there someday.
