I didnt think it would be this hard.

I have 2 layers. I want the upper layer to be gradually more transparent when going from the top of the frame down to the bottom of the frame. Like this:

Sounds easy, but I cant figure it out. All that I can do is apply a "Gradiant" which goes from a solid color to transparent. I need it to go from an image to transparent, allowing the image below to show through.

Please help - Rad

In the top layer, select quick mask. Apply the gradient.

Exit quick mask. Delete the selection.

You're done.

It's really that easy.

Or, if you want to do it non-destructively:

1. Click on the top layer to select it
2. Layer >> Add Layer Mask >> Reveal All (or Hide All depending on the foreground/background colors you've selected)
3. Apply the gradient as desired (top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top depedning on the options selected in 2.

And you're done.

You are using the default B&W colors, aren't you?
In a mask, Black reveals. White conceals. (OR vice versa  )
