Hi
I am new to the forum, had a quick look around and it seems to be very active with frienldy participants.
I am also new to the world of photography and was wondering if anyone knows about or can do a photography crash course. Maybe one of the pro's can give some of our novices some assignments and critique etc.
Anybody?

Welcome to the forum.
What you are asking for is very broad, so you might want to start here. (http://www.shortcourses.com/)

There are tons and tons of resources on line and at your local library and book store.
Grab your camera, a book or two and just start shooting, making mistakes, learning from the mistakes and most important... have fun doing it.

Read books, read forums and keep shooting is the best way to learn.
I don't think majority of folks here have ever paid and attended any photography related courses/lessons, yet you see so many wonderful images.
You don't pay for knowledge, you share it

Check with your local photo supply shop. I know the local one here in Cincinnati has courses that they offer. Also check out the local community college or trade school. There is one locally that offers Personal Enrichment courses that cover photography.
