Practice, practice, practice. I keep trying to hone my compositional skills as well as my macro techniques.

These images were made with my XT, Sigma 700mm Macro and 430 EX Flash with StoFen Diffuser all tripod-mounted.

C&C Appreciated.

No they are great looking.....just the macro section gets so many pics it is easy for a pic to fall off the front page...I will bump it back up :)

Love the first one I think it is the best one

Lovely shots- great light texture and colour. :)
Not sure of the shooting conditions but #2 and #3 look a bit plasticky perhaps from noise reduction ?

Thanks Mike. Of the three images, I really like the texture in #1 the most.

Thanks Bryce. You have to excuse me. I've been knocked flat on my back by the flu this week and my brain has been a touch befogged. Make that a 70mm Macro! :D

Thanks. Maybe once I am feeling better, I wil tackle a B/W conversion and see how it looks.

Thanks Brian.

Shooting conditions were pretty much the same for all three. Only difference was that #2 and #3 were shot against a black background while #1 was shot against a blue gray background. I am troubled by the white lines along the edges of some petals. They are there on the original RAW file out of the camera. That must be from the light from the flash.

very crisp detail, nice colors. i like #1 a lot.
i agree with Brian, about the plasticy look, my Katydid shots i did, i had to be careful, because i lost a lot of texture detail with noise reduction, so i dubbed it down a bit.
but still,...lost some detail it seems.

Thanks John. I think I follow what you are saying regarding the plasticy look.

Thanks Flo. Reds have always driven me crazy. I've done a lot of bird photography and getting the Cardinal red right was always a challenge.

#3 (last one) is looking good! ;)

Thanks. I guess I wouldn't have posted all three if I didn't like all three. :) But like I said, I do find the bits of whites along the edges a bit distracting.
