It may seem as a stupid question to some of You, but does the printer output resolution (eg. 300 c/a 270 dpi) somehow relate to ink consumption of the printer. if i print with 300 dpi will the printer consume more ink than if i print at 270 dpi ??? - I have discussed that with some people who should have more technical experience in that area than me and they could not give me an unified answer. so, i am waiting to be enlightened. thanks in advance

I think this is confusing output/print resolution with printer resolution which are different.
the 300 DPI number is usually associated with print resolution. (and someone may be kind enough to remind us about DPI vs. PPI )

Modern printers are going to put more than one droplet of ink down for every dot per inch of information you have from your image file.

How you set DPI has more to do with the final out put size of your print. Going from a 300 DPI print to a 270 DPI print will mean a larger print (unless you interpolate to maintain print size, at which point your going to interpolate right back to 300 DPI if you maintain the same print size)

What DOES effect ink usage for sure is the "quality setting" on most printer drivers.
This is the setting that tells the printer how many drops of ink to use to make up each Dot of the image, how fine the detail should be. Using max quality does equate to more ink. With some papers using Max quality will have negative effects as the amount of ink will actually over saturate the paper.

Thanks CyberDyneSystems - it makes perfect sens - btw, only now i noticed i used the term "printer" rather than "print" output - thanks again for your answer
