Well after reading for about 2 hours and reading some more for another 1, I've decided on the canon 200EG backpack. For the price it's perfect for what I need. I do need a tripod too as my old wally world one broke and I would like a decent one to use when my XTi gets here.

The backpack can be had for $35 shipped, so is the $19 worth it for that tripod? Yes? No? any other suggestions on a decent tripod?
Thanks,
Quentin
and btw, I cannot say how much this forum has helped me. Great stickies, great info. Hands down the best forum I've ever been on. (been on mostly truck forums previously).

Ive never seen this deal but most people will tell you not to get an no name tripod you should get a bogen or gitzo and dont waste your time with these cheapies... and it seems to be good advice so dont waste your money on this and buy a nice one! :)

Yeah I understand, you get what you pay for. I'm no where near a professional, just a fun hobby and didn't want to spend $75+ on a tripod I don't think I'd use that often (only for night/long exposure shots. I was hoping for a decent lower end one for now.

Hmm you could try amonva on ebay... they sell dynatran tripods and they are fairly good for their price :) but still gonna run around 50-100 for lower end ones but that sure beats 175 for a cheap bogen or name brand

A sturdy tripod is a must have. $20 to learn to learn your lesson and your not out a lot a lot of cash (probally get half that back on craigslist selling it). I would say get the package deal if you think that $250 is too much to spend on a tripod. You will end up getting rid of it if your serious about photography, but perhaps it will serve you well.

Hi Quentin,
I have the Canon backpack and i really like it. As for the tripod, nope. It's not even worth $19.
For budget tripod, check out the Amvona's Nomad AT-L101T (http://cgi.ebay.com/AMVONA-PRO-PHOTO-CAMERA-TRIPOD-BASE-LEGS-AT-L101T_W0QQitemZ200202233903QQihZ010QQcategoryZ3009 5QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)legs and ATH-H95 (http://cgi.ebay.com/PRO-CAMERA-TRIPOD-ACTION-MAGNESIUM-ALLOY-BALL-HEAD-H95_W0QQitemZ200203043793QQihZ010QQcategoryZ30095Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)Magnesium ballhead. They offer the best value for the money if you can keep the bidding low.
