I know someone locally who is looking to sell a Fuji Pictrography Printer for about 2500 and i am intrested, if anyone here knows or has their own studio what do you think of this printer, if you dont have this printer but are familiar with the specifications, do you think that it would be a good buy or not?

I use to work for Fuji and actually repaired these. The price is about right. It is worth between 2000 and 3000. The 4500 is the last of the PG's and no longer made. They are very reliable and phone support is free. You will not get a live person for phone support and they will call you back. (Eventually). If it breaks...Good luck getting a tech to repair your machine UNLESS you register the machine and get an account set up. Even if you do that GOOD luck getting a tech for repairs. You are not a Walmart and you are on the bottom of the list. You need donor and reciever to make prints (expensive material)
Make sure the laser is calibrated. As far a maintaince, just change the hose kit on the maintaince cycle and use the recommended water. ( I believe it uses distilled water only.
Did I say parts for repair are EXPENSIVE !!!! Did I say a Service Repair tech is EXPENSIVE !! Did I say not all techs know how to fix these in the field or on the phone
Why use Old techology and no warranty.
I would go with the ASK 4000 for 2500 at B and H. The PG 4500 IS BIG !!!
Fujifilm ASK-4000 8" Thermal Dye Sublimation Digital Photo Printer with 300 x 600 dpi, USB 2.0 Interface with 1 Free roll (200 prints) of 8"x10"
