The one thing I had found that was causing me issues with my new DRebel was that my view through the viewfinder wasn't very clear. What I was seeing through my viewfinder was very blurred even if it came out sharp in the picture. So, I looked around the camera and noticed a dial near the Viewfinder. I cracked open the instruction book, and looked it up. Lo and behold...after dealing with this for almost a week, I finally found a solution.

I'm usually not one to read instruction books for electronic devices. More than most of the time, I can figure it out on my own. But, it looks like I'll be looking more closely at my Canon DSLR instruction books from here on out.

You'd be surprised what you find in the instruction manual--even after you've read it several times. I read mine on my 10D at least once every 6 months.

Don't you know that you're supposed to download the manual and read it twice while the camera is in transit?

Yep, reading - and re-reading - the manual is worth it. Heck, just leave it in the bathroom.

Reminds me of when Sheldon (ssim) was showing me his then brand new MKII. I sort of grabbed it from him and started looking through the viewfinder and trying to get it to focus. I could hear the motor working, I could see the confirmation light light up, but damn, it was blurry as hell. Finally told Sheldon that his 24-70 was broken, cause it was all fuzzy, even with focus confirmation. He took the camera and tried it. Works great says he. I try it. All blurry. This went on for about 10 minutes, back and forth. Finally realized what the problem was. No one has ever accused me of being the sharpest knife in the drawer

No one has even accused you of being even near the drawer..

This happened only shortly after getting my MKII and I figured either he busted it or he busted it. My heart went thump.

Sorry for laughing flipside but that is too funny :D

As scottes says-most of us were experts on the camera before it was even delivered

Seriously-the one great thing i found in the manual was the enlarge-and-scroll through the pics using the program shift dial.It makes it SO fast for checking sharpness on multiple shots to pick the best
