I really like three the way the guy sort of trails into the grind. That is an awesome idea, if of course that's what you intended ;)

Thanks.
I wanted a skate photo with an awesome light trail, so I slowed the sync speed down a little bit. I guess i just hit the shutter at the right moment. =D

I like 2 and 4. Number 1 seems oof and the focus is on the rail instead of the guy. I dunno..maybe it's just me. But I like this technique.

I like #3 the best...but I wonder what it would look like with a #5 edit?

Very nice captures. #3 & 5 would be my favorites. How did you manage to get the trail in 3? Slow shutter speed and second-curtain flash?

I also want to know how this is done. What kind of flash did you use? Sweet shots though!

I didn't edit #5. I shot that with a Canon A2 film SLR using Kodak 400 B&W film. That's the print.

I slowed down the sync speed using the 430ex on a off shoe flash cord (Canon II). The skater is grinding from right to left, so no second curtain flash was used.
The lens was a Tokina 10-17mm. It's a great fisheye for anyone with cropped sensors.
