So I was shooting Monday night in cold weather, probably just below 40f outside. I was only there for about an hour but the Eneloops proved their worth.

I was using three flashes, two with sets of eneloops and one with a set of standard NiMH rechargables. The third flash with the standard rechargables was dead within half an hour and I had to keep turning it off the on for one more flash. All batteries were charge before the shoot.

I rather enjoy the shelf life of my eneloops.

Yes, eneloops ARE awesome! Have you picked up a Maha C9000 yet? If not, thats your next purchase!

You have that combo right Ben! My Eneloops are going strong after a year of use.

+1 for eneloops. Now I can really replace alkalines.

Ok, call me stupid, but what are Eneloops?
Sounds like a battery?

Nevermind, Google is an awesome thing!

Sanyo low dispersion rechargables.

they retain their charge very well. something like 75% after 1 year. Most regular NiMH are done in a matter of weeks (lose their charge).

They hold up in the cold too. I've used alkalines in my flashes and I've only had them since November, so it's all been cold weather shooting. The NiMH have been a real pain. I'll have them fully charged and by the time I get to shooting when it's 30-40f out, they're about dead. The eneloops have held up as well as the alkalines so far. I just need four more for my last flash.

quick question: is it ok to leave the eneloops in the flash for long period of time?
