I just got my cactus v2s yesterday, which was about 2 weeks early, and one of them doesn't work. has anyone dealt with returning theirs to hong kong? i am sure it is the receiver because it works perfectly fine with one of them, but when i put that flash on the dead receiver, all i get is a blinking light when i press the shutter.

I am sorry I can't help you, but I am interested to see the results of this thread. I was thinking about buying the same thing in the near future.

I had a DOA receiver from hkgreatdeals on eBay. I contacted them through eBay and after a few reminders, including a mention of the pending feeback that I was hoping I could make positive, a replacement did turn up a couple of weeks later. If I remember rightly, the replacement did not have a battery supplied - not a big deal as I had the one from the original DOA unit. Then, a few days later, a second replacement materialised, this time complete, I think.
They did not ask for the original unit to be returned.

Hopefully i get the same response. They e-mailed me to ask which model flashes i used, but no respponse yet. They seem pretty helpful and for a hk based company, their replies are very clear and understandable.

Open the receiver cover and check if the contacts to the hotshoe pins are broken. Replace the OEM battery helps sometimes too.

Thanks, i'll try the battery as soon as i finish work.
Checked the contacts and they all look fine. Used the working receiver for reference. I guess this is just one of those few instances where you get what you pay for. Definitely satisfied with the one working receiver though.

Actually, check that you have removed the cellophane protection from the battery. It may not be obvious that there is any there at first.

Got it, i read about that before. When i got them, i knew and i still almost forgot. The led on the receiver flashes, it also blinks everytime i take a pic. It just doesn't fire the flash. The flashes fire on the other receiver, just not this one.

Check and make sure the connections are running to the hotshoe. There should be 2 thin wires running to 2 different spots on the hotshoe. Did you try a hotshoe to pc adapter on the one that doesn't work? (PC to V2s, hotshoe under flash) For $15 it might save hassle.

Yeah, maybe i might try that. Where do i buy one? only thing is, a new one with shipping is $24 and they got here in 1/3 the quoted time. i may try pc-pc adapter. do they sell these at radioshack?

I was at radioshack last night trying to find the pc plugs to make my own pc-mini cable, and they didn't have them at mine. If you have a photo store near you, ritz or local, you can pick up a hotshoe adapter for $15 or so. That's what I saw at the local photo store last night. I just ended up cutting a mono cable and wiring it direct to my cactus receiver. Now, everything works just fine.

No stores here carry them(live on an island). We got a ritz but it's really understocked. Guess i'll try mpex or something.
