Hi everyone, I'm thinking of trading in my D60 for the newer 20D camera. I need less noise when shooting at a high ISO in low light conditions. Does anyone know of a reliable dealer for a trade in and what a D60 is worth in a trade in. Thanks

http://keh.com/hmpg/index.cfm is good, they said the D60 is only worth in normal condition is $380. You'll probably get more if you just sell it online on a forum.

my guess is you can get about $600 on Ebay for a decent one

You can get $700 for sure. About two weeks before the 20D came out I looked on ebay and saw the D60 going for a little more than $1,000. Being that I shoot weddings and other gigs I felt I could not be without a camera, so I waited until I got the 20D before listing the D60. By then I was too late, I couldn't get the $800 asking price, so I still have it as a backup. Get a load of this; I sold me D30 for $500 less than three weeks before getting the 20D...Dean

I certainly wouldn't go with KEH. They has a tendency to low-ball people on trade-in prices. I agree with others in saying you would be best off selling on eBay.

Watch ebay for a while. I recently paid $622 shipped for a decent D60. It's not mint, but it's nice. Seller had good feedback, which really influences the price on higher - $$ items.

I had a D30 and have just bought the 20D and frankly for the kind of money that you can get for a secondhand DSLR these days I decided to keep it as backup.
Unless the few hundred $ makes the difference between getting a 20D and not getting it, I would consider the same thing, keep the D60 as a backup.
A second body is quite is handy. I can carry it when the weather is bad or the 20D would otherwise be at risk. If anything did ever happen to the 20D I can still shoot while it is off for repairs. It is sometimes useful to have a long lens on one body and a shorter one on the other in case you need to switch fast, such as a t a sports event.

I kept my D60 when I got the 20D as well. I never considered selling it - too many of the situations I shoot in, lens changes are, ah, slightly inconvenient, awkward, or both. I'd sooner grab a different camera that's already set up with the wide lens I know I'm going to need a split second after I've been at max. tele than miss the shot. And I feel more comfortable working over water or cliffs if I'm just grabbing the other camera than if I'm changing lenses. I dropped a filter the other day when I was up a boulder when changing to a polarizer - it rolled nicely, but if I'd been doing a lens change it wouldn't have been so nice!
