I have no idea how many members will take the time to read this post but i am hoping it will serve as a reminder to everyone here how this forum operates. This forum is not a public domain, rather a privately owned and operated forum that is totally funded by Pekka. Not a penny comes from any type of sponsorship. You do not see pop-ups here nor banner ads. Through the generosity of one man and his love of photography we are privileged to have this site. As the forum has grown, Pekka has asked and received help from several members to serve as "moderators". CDS, belmondo and RFM share the same passion for photography as Pekka and as with all of us who call this forum "home". Like Pekka, they do this unpaid and sometimes "unloved" by certain folks. Realize that these guys read just about every post in every forum and try their best to keep posts on an even keel. With so many people registered here and countless others just dropping by for look, there are bound to be times when someone feels slighted. If this happens to you, take a minute and try walking a mile in their shoes. Take the time to read every post in every forum. Not just once, but several times a day. Not just for one day, but for 7 days a week, for months at a time. Now also realize that besides reading all these posts and trying to keep this a safe and happy place, these guys do have lives to lead. They work as well as sit here and read our sometime boring dribble. They read while the rest of us are out shooting, working and playing. Would you be willing to devote 5-7 hours a day reading the posts in this forum? My hat is off to Pekka, CDS, belmondo and RFM. They do a hell of a job and deserve our thanks, respect and understanding if something goes a little wacky every once in a while. Believe me it is not done on purpose.
Also remember and it has been said many times before, this is not a public forum, but rather privately owned and we march to the drum that Pekka beats.

Nice post, Ian.
Tense situations occur at times. I found myself in one about a month or so ago, and decided to back away for a while. "This is a photography site", I told myself, "and photography should remain the primary subject".
My opinion to all is that when you feel the tensions getting strong and you find yourself becoming overly argumentative, then step back from the keyboard. Don't quit, just take a little break.
The internet lacks some features that allow face-to-face conversation to convey more than the spoken word. You can't see facial expressions on the internet. You can't see that sly grin or the look in the other person's eye. All you can see are the words. And that's really all this is - words on the screen. Some great, some sad, some nasty, some glad. But they're still just words on a screen. They aren't fully representative of the person who typed them.

Yes, if you really want to understand a moderator, walk a mile in their shoes.
Besides, then you will be one mile away, and you will have their shoes!

I, 2nd or 3rd that,
I am pretty new to this forum, moved from another forum that I thought was getting to be more destructive rather than constructive. You all have done a great job
