I have received an email requesting permission to 'reprint' my work online. Since my original usage rights spelled out print work and such, they need new permission for this. I'm not sure about what sort of rights or control of my work permission would authorize. I guess this is kind of open ended advice request. Clearly they want me to just sign and date this paperwork, then fax back. I apologize if this seems vague, I also am a little hazy. Here is the email. The '****' are put in where I am concealing private info. I will add my original usage rights in the next post, in case that helps with advice. Thanks in advance.

RE: Electronic reprint permission for 6 ***** illustrations

To Whom It May Concern:

Originally, you granted our author, *(Author)*, permission to reprint the above referenced material in our 2007 publication entitled *(Name of Publication)*. I have included a copy of this permission grant for your reference.

We are requesting permission to include the above referenced material in the collection on our controlled-access, password-protected website and only to those who purchase access to the site.

***(Publisher)**** publishes reference titles, academic and general interest books, texts, and electronic resources. The market potential for these products consists of high school and college teachers, librarians, and students, in both the public and private sectors.

Please email, fax, or send any necessary permission agreements needed for our signature to my attention at ****(Publisher)**** referencing: **(Author)**. We would appreciate a response within two weeks. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much for your help.

I do beg for help here, I'm lost as to how to go about even gauging this sort of thing.

I dont know what sort of usage rights to write up for this sort of thing because its potential is very open ended. In addition, it's not just web publishing, its an ebook. I don't know if my material will be downloadable, or at what resolution ebooks even come. Or even if any of this is applicable when assigning rights to ebooks.

Please, someone has to have had a situation similar to this. I'm lost.

Thanks,
Bruce
