I am looking to buy a lens right now and have a slight problem. I have one person who has offered a decent deal, however his lens has 2 small specks of dust on the inside front element. The lens is a 50 f/1.4 and I was wondering if the 2 dust particals would effect my pictures at all?

Don't think so. It's the same as dust on your glasses is not bothering you; too close.
Best solution: try before you buy!

In a perfect world there would never be any dust in photo optics. Now back to reality.Worse case, if the specks are large enough it can degrade the image in that area slightly. but it would be very difficult to see. Ask to be able to run a roll of film through it and make sure you take some into the light. Otherwise, enjoy the lens.
