Eric,
Nice captures. If you hadn't said that it was still in use.... The shot of the interior has a very homely feel to it, the rusty metal, along with the worn, yet friendly seat. I really like this one, I really felt something with this photograph. Nicely balanced exposure, with good detail inside and outside. Thanks for posting them.

Thanks for your comments. Its important to get feedback on how a shot comes across to other folks. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed them.

Very COOL post & images Eric. Nice to know that a 68 year old switch engine is still going strong.
I wonder how many miles it has traveled over the years? ;)

That loco is two years older than I am. I'm rustier, though.
It's interesting to see how spartan those controls are. The cab is pure functionality.
Thanks for posting this.

One of the interesting things about the locomotive is the counterweighted wheels. Though GE never built steam locos, it would appear that the mentality of that age was still fresh in the designers' minds.
BTW, these are some of my first shots with the new 40D. I'm loving this camera...

The counterweights are a necessity...to compensate for the connecting rods.

I really feel something with the interior shot. I can only try and imagine the long hours various operators have been at the controls. As stated it is the cold hard rusty metal vs the warm well worn seat!!
