Hi everyone, I am currently getting into photography, and taking a photography course.... bla bla bla

to fulfill a particular criteria, I need to involve panning, so I am going to watch my brother play football tomorrow, and hopefully I'll be able to get a nice movement shot (I want blurred backround & sharp player, or atleast sharper than the backround), can you guys give me any hints and tips relating to this?

I'm using a canon 1ds II, and a 24-70mm L lens, it will probably be cloudy (great british weather) and I reckon i'll be between 3-10 metres away from the players.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, and if they come out, infact even if they dont, ill pput a link up to them in here for you.

The other work I've done for the project, can be viewed by CLICKING HERE (http://www.flickr.com/gp/24012106@N02/03dF83) and after you've clicked there, you could also; i was going to put another link but it wouldnt let me so if you want more, paste this in2 your browser:

Thanks again :)

Dave

NB any comments on other pics should be left on Flickr to keep this thread on topic

70mm is very short for football, and your panning shots may work out, as when people run, they tend to move up and down as well as side to side. Good luck.

It depends on the distance to the subject, the angle to the subject, the focal length, the speed of the subject, & the effect that you're trying to get. Sometimes when I'm playing with blurs, I throw a lot away! ;)

first shoot with moving cars need advice. (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=358481)
