How many of you use Lab Prints software for designing your coffee table books and other layouts?

For years I've sold the traditional matted style albums which a number of my clients still want, but I'm starting to get requests for flushmount and magazine style books. About two weeks ago I attended a Lab Prints seminar and it looks like it will do what I need. I've got the trial s/w and have started playing around with it.

Beyond the standard page templates that are included in the s/w, can anybody recommend books or magazines with "inspirational" sample spreads? I'm no stranger to page layout and printing, but would be interested in seeing samples of other's work just to get some ideas. Thanks.

If I need to find something inspirational or new to add to one the books I will normally browse the website of different labs. Some of them have a number of cool examples and/or templates that you can download.

An example of this would be this site (http://pikto.ca/books/). They even have templates for InDesign.

Thanks Sheldon - that's helpful. I've started browsing sites and labs and the better ones have some pretty good examples. I'm sure I can come up with some pretty decent layouts of my own but I'm not yet tuned into what's current; I'm still thinking "matte" somewhat.

The books I've browsed on Amazon seem geared towards specific s/w. I'm looking for more generic conceptual ideas.

Outsourcing might be a good plan for you Stu - keep doing what you're good at. Check out this design company (http://www.modernalbumdesigns.com/).

Interesting company there - very attractive design they have for sample "intro" work. Perhaps one day I may consider outsourcing, but I'd at least like to give it a go and see what I could come up with on my own ;).. Thanks for the link.
