I shot two high school games yesterday evening. Lighting for the first game started with daylight and ended up under the lights. The second game was all lights.

The action in these two games was no where close to the games from last Saturday. It became obvious to me pretty quickly both games would be kinda lopsided...and they were.

Here's a few pics. All shot with a 20D and the Siggy 120-300 f/2.8.

Good pitcher - shut the opponents down.

Lots of baserunning in this game...at least for this team.

He tried hard but was no match for the other teams bats.

A no-doubter! This ball jumped out of the park in a heartbeat!

That first shot is great! I love the tongue hanging out, the intensity on the face, and the framing is excellent! (Much better than the similar shot you posted before where the pitcher's head was disappearing behind the batter.) Also, the focus is dead on. Your shots are making me a believer in the Sigma.

Nice shots. Really like the 1st one and the story you told with the shots. The last one is almost too much motion blur, IMO, because the bat and ball are blurred so much, it's not obvious what they are.

Thanks for the kudos. I'm working hard at improving my shots. Personally, I like the pic ofthe pitcher, first baseman and baserunner. I've always wanted to get that shot.
BTW, pics 1,3 and 4 were shot through the green backstop netting! :-)

Steve, I'm afraid some blur was in store on the last shot. If you check the EXIF, it shows I was shooting wide open at f/2.8, ISO 3200 which gave me 1/400th sec shutter speed.

MikeAhh, that happens sometimes. Still a good shot.
