I've been a Windows user since the beginning and just noticed that Apple has a software package called Aperture/Aperture 2.
It appears to be similar to Adobe's Lightroom.
How do the two compare?

No, Mac OS X only.

Apple does make some software for Widows (QuickTime, iTunes), but mostly so they can sell stuff through iTunes Music Store. The exception is Boot Camp.
